Xmas Day Soccer Love

As good as my 3 nephews are in Soccer, my husband surprised them by playing a bit with them on Xmas Day. By the way, you see the life-size goal and how my parents' yard has been utterly DESTROYED this year by the grandkids playing soccer there so often? I don't even think the boys knew Patrick could play at all but he remarked, "They didn't grow up kicking a ball around with nothing else to do in the streets and fields like we do in Europe or Latin America. It's like riding a bike - you don't forget your skills." Snap!

World Cup: USA

Nevermind the fact 2 months ago I was called in to audition for Shakira's World Cup anthem music video - - the World Cup is one of the few sports events I get into. (And, for the record: I liked Shakira better when she was plump, with her raven-hair and only sang in Spanish).

In fact, La Copa Mundial runs a very close 2nd to my favorite: the Summer Olympics - which says a lot. Having to wait 4 years for both events makes them all the more exciting. I grew up in a soccer family - with most siblings playing and my dad coaching. In fact, being Mexican and settling in horse and dairy farm Bonita back in the 1960s he was tapped automatically to coach and helped introduce AYSO youth league to my hometown. My brothers were both star players and their love and talent has been passed on to 3 of my nephews who are excelling greatly and All Stars.

I have an interest in several teams: USA, Mexico, Germany, Spain and Italy for various reasons. But, anyone with a heart loves the underdog. I am so proud of the USA team - - watch this amazing video below on the country's reaction to the historic last-minute winning goal earlier this week! Especially the boy around minute 3:40. Brings tears to my eyes :)

The Day Beckham came to LA

So today British futbol star, David Beckham, officially was welcomed to the Los Angeles soccer team, "The Galaxy". I don't really know what to expect. As I had mentioned in a previous blog (click here), I still think that he and wife came here to pursue careers in Hollywood - so, when does his wife's reality show start? Soon, I think. (SEE!!???)

I really have only 1 question. Who wins sexiest, ego-feeding, photo op?

Beckham?

or World Cup Champs: Italy???

What do YOU think?

David Beckham is coming to Los Angeles, California to play for the LA Galaxy team. It still seems so strange. I wonder to myself: is he doing it because he is older now? By soccer standards his hey-day in Europe is coming to an end so he can play here in the USA as a semi-retired old man at 40, eating cookies and twinkies and STILL overpowering our league's players easily? I mean, shoot: the USA league is easily on par with the 2nd tier level of Europe's futbol teams.

Or is it that he came here because he is so accosted in Europe by the paparazzi that he and his wife, ex-Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, just want a little more freedom??

Well, I think I know the REAL answer. This man is GORGEOUS (and E doesn't even prefer blonds). And his wife - although WAY to skinny and strange-looking to ME, is considered HOT by most men. My theory???? I think that both of them want to break into.... Hollywood. Come on - you KNOW his wife is urging him, "Honey, I so want to be on that Desperate Housewives show!"

And that is why they chose to come to play in Los Angeles. Enough said...
